Record clearing in Saginaw

An old record shouldn't decide your next job.

Our fee is flat for each case and written down before you sign. Court filing, fingerprint and records fees are set by the court and the state and are paid on top; we give you the total up front. Whether a record qualifies depends on the charge, the dates and your history.

What we clear

Which of these is yours?

Each page says who usually qualifies, what we do and how long it tends to take.

  • A conviction from years ago

After a waiting period, a court can set aside some convictions. We check the charge, the dates and what's happened since, then file and go to the hearing with you.

  • An arrest that went nowhere

Charges that were dropped, dismissed or ended in not guilty can often be cleared sooner, and they're the ones that surprise people on a background check.

    About arrests
  • A record that keeps following you

Reports that are out of date, wrong or still showing a case the court already cleared. We dispute them and send the order to the companies that sell them.

After the order

What clearing a record does, and what it doesn't

When a court sets a record aside, it generally stops coming up in the checks most employers and landlords run.

It isn't erased everywhere. Courts, police, some licensing boards and certain government jobs can still see it, and the rules change with the charge and the state. We tell you which doors open and which stay half shut before you decide.

In most cases

  • Standard job and rental screenings stop showing it

  • You know where you still have to disclose it

  • You keep the court's order in writing

  • Companies that sold the old record are sent the order

Clients

What people say once the order is signed

“I'd stopped applying for anything that ran a background check. Maxine told me on the first call what was possible and what wasn't. A few months later I had the order in my hands.”

Cheryl M.Cleared a conviction

“My arrest never went to trial, but it kept coming up on apartment applications. Now it doesn't. I wish I'd called years sooner.”

Antoine B.Arrest without a conviction

“She explained the fee on the phone and put it in writing. The court costs came out exactly as she said they would.”

Each client's case is different. What happened for one person doesn't predict what a court will do for another.

Before you call

Five things people ask first

Can I tell on my own whether I qualify?

It depends on the charge, how long ago everything ended, whether you finished what the court ordered and what's happened since. Most people can't tell from the outside, so we start by getting your actual record and reading it.

Will anyone find out I'm doing this?

Our work happens in private. A petition is a court filing, so it's public while it's pending, but we don't contact employers, landlords or neighbors, and clearing a record generally doesn't announce itself.

How long until it's done?

Often a few months from the day we file, and longer when a prosecutor objects or a court is backed up. We give you a realistic range for your court on the first call.

What if I can't pay it all at once?

We split the flat fee into payments you can manage. Court fees are separate, and a court may let you ask to waive them. We help with that form.

What if the answer is no?

Then you hear it on the first call, or once we've read your record, not after you've paid for a filing. If the waiting period isn't over, we tell you the date to come back.

The office

Come in, or stay on the phone

Most first calls happen by phone. If you'd rather sit down, the door is on Washington Avenue.

Start with what's on your record today

Tell us the county and roughly when it happened. That's enough for a first call, and there's nothing to prepare beyond that.

The first call is free. If you hire us, the fee is flat and quoted before you sign; court fees are separate.
